Character Development

In our film we wanted our character(s)to seem distant and unaware of their circumstance our character(s) are seemingly unlike anything we have seen before. In our film the schizophrenic lead role believes he is being followed by another version of himself from a parallel universe. This is a hard character to develop because as an audience we know that he is being followed but no one else in reality would know because it's all in his head. Much like the main character of Donnie Darko only he sees this large bunny rabbit that is following him around... It's not necessarily the same story but it is close to what we have. The reason we went along with this Donnie Darko theme was because it is not something commonly challenged because to people without mental illness it isn't necessarily something we can talk about because we have not experienced it! The way in which the trailer is made can take elements from Donnie Darko and use them in a slightly different way, it's not a huge bunny following our character but another form of himself. This could lead to very interesting endings and something that I think viewers would be interested in.
We wanted this trailer to make people think a little, the way in which this individuals mind works can be very hard to understand, even if you walked past him in a street then you wouldn't know anything was wrong. The question is is that person next to you on the bus "normal" or are they "not right" to us normality is what we see everyday in our own minds but to someone else it can be perceived very differently. It is a hard concept to grasp because none of us really have the authority to challenge others normality.

The way in which we made our character seem very "normal" in the way he dresses and walks yet in his mind he is being followed by himself, something that not a lot of people can probably relate to however still a frightening thought. if in his mind this is happening what could happen next. Could that person following him start influencing the way he acts and lives his life? Could the character have a dual personality? We don't find out anything from the teaser because it is simply just a teaser and you want the audience to question what is really going on.
